The Creative Path
The creative path is made up of 4 elements which we will study over the period of the course. These elements make up the basics of all art and design and once you understand them, you will be able to apply them to your interior design project. They are:
Colour
We will be looking at the basics of colour theory; how we can apply colour 'rules' to interior design and how colour can effect us on an emotional and psychological level;
Line
We will examine various mediums which we will employ to create line to draw and sketch, contrast and qualities of line. Also, we will look at how designers use line in interiors to create harmony and balance;
Texture
We will explore how texture can impact on an interior, how the use of various kinds of textures can change the feel of a room and how and when to use them;
Pattern
We will look at the most common types of pattern that are available for us to use in interior design. We will explore how pattern can be used successfully in an interior and you will be given guidance on the kinds of patterns that work in which environment;
Once you have these basics principles in place we will then go on to create an interior as part of your final project.
